Page Speed Process

Please review the steps below before installing and activating WP Rocket:

1. Initial Backup

  • Ensure you have a recent, complete backup of your website (files and database and .htaccess) before making any changes.
  • Test the loading speed of the website before and after activating WP Rocket.
  • Compare the Google PageSpeed Insights score before and after to assess performance improvements.
  • Open up the main site across Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

2. Basic Functionality

  • Verify that all main level pages are loading without errors. Check an inner content page and a location page (we mostly use the same template for all inner content pages).
  • Check for any visible layout issues or broken styles.
  • Ensure that all images and media files load correctly.

3. Dynamic Content

  • Confirm that dynamic content (like recent posts, comments, etc.) is updating properly.
  • Check personalized content or user-specific data displays correctly (e.g., user profiles, dashboards).

4. JavaScript and CSS Minification

  • Ensure that JavaScript and CSS files are being minified without causing functionality issues.
  • Test for JavaScript errors in the browser console.
  • Validate the functionality of scripts (sliders, pop-ups, lazy loading).

5. Forms and Functionality

  • Test all forms on the website (contact forms, search forms, comments). Send test submissions.
  • Check that there are no issues in the Gravity Forms “entries” section.
  • Verify that email notifications from forms are received.

6. E-commerce Functions

  • Check all e-commerce functionalities (product display, cart, checkout, order processing).
  • Perform a test checkout if possible.
  • Verify that session-based features like cart contents and user login persist.

7. Mobile Responsiveness

8. Cache Management

  • Verify that the cache is being cleared and regenerated as expected.
  • Check that manual cache purge options function correctly.
  • Open up Console and hit hard refresh.

9. Third-party Integrations

  • Test all third-party integrations (social media feeds, external APIs).
  • Ensure that widgets and plugins are functioning correctly.

10. SSL and HTTPS

  • Confirm that all pages are served over HTTPS and that there are no mixed content warnings.
  • Check for any SSL certificate errors.

11. Console Logs

  • Check browser developer tools for any new warnings or errors in the console.

12. SEO and Analytics

  • Ensure that SEO features (like meta tags, canonical URLs) are intact.
  • Verify that tracking scripts (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel) are executing properly.

13. Error Logs

  • Review the website’s error logs for any unseen issues that need attention.
  • The 2024 AMPV Starter Theme will show any errors that need attention in the custom dashboard.

Following this checklist should help you identify and resolve any issues arising from installing WP Rocket on your site, ensuring a smooth and improved user experience.
