2) Audit

This is the original template file, do not edit this file directly, follow instructions below.

Set up

  1. Start your timer for the task: Site review, audit & plan
  2. Go to; Clients>Client Folder>Technical Data, right click and hover Google Docs arrow icon, select “From a Template”
  3. Select “(TEMPLATE) SEO Audit & Review.” This will create a copy of the template file in the folder you are currently in.
  4. Change the file name from “(TEMPLATE) SEO Audit & Review” to e.g. “(clientsdomain.com 6/21/23) SEO Audit & Review”

Site Crawl / Screaming Frog (SF)

  1. Run a crawl with SF, wait until it’s 100% completed.
  2. Go to the “Site Crawl / Screaming Frog” section in the audit file we created above.
  3. Mark the checkbox for each item, and make note of the data (e.g. if there are zero 404 errors, just add a “0”) or take short precise notes in the notes column, do this for every item.
  4. If you come across any issues that need to be fixed or any ideas for projects, add them to the task “Site review, audit & plan.”

Note: we should have a specific doc on running an audit with SF.

Google Search Console (GSC)

  1. Login to our [email protected] account in Google Search Console https://search.google.com/search-console/
  2. Go to the “Google Search Console (GSC)” section in the audit file we created above.
  3. Mark the checkbox for each item, and take short precise notes in the notes column for every item.
  4. If you come across any issues that need to be fixed or any ideas for projects, add them to the task “Site review, audit & plan.”

Pagespeed (PSI) & Web Core Vitals

  1. Run site through https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ and note the speeds (if mobile is 30 and desktop is 50, note as 30/50). If slower than 50 in Mobile/Desktop, what is the issue? May need to create a dev task to improve. 
  2. Webpagetest.org and Google Analytics PageSpeed is option, okay to leave, just mark as; n/a

Google Analytics

  1. Goals/Conversions – check that conversions/events are set up, follow GA4 instructions here.
  2. Check mobile conversion rate is optional, mark as n/a.
